This article contains the FAQs for the NC700 Series Ninja® Swirl by CREAMi® Soft Serve Ice Cream Machine. This supports the following models: NC701C and NC701.
Operational Questions
How do I assemble the pint on the motor base?
1. First, plug in power cord and place on a clean, dry, level surface, such as a countertop or table. Please note that the unit will NOT run if the outer bowl is installed on the unit before it is plugged in.
2. Install the CREAMi Swirl™ pint: place the pint containing the frozen base in the outer bowl. (Before installing, remove lid from pint and check that the ingredients have not been frozen at an angle.)
3. Install the Creamerizer™ paddle: Press and hold the paddle latch on the top of the outer bowl lid, then insert the paddle in the bottom of the lid. Release the latch to secure the paddle.
4. Install lid: position the tab of the lid just slightly to the right of the outer bowl handle so the lines on the lid and handle align. Rotate the lid clockwise to lock.
5. Install outer bowl: after plugging in the unit, slide the outer bowl straight onto the base with the handle in the middle of the unit. Twist handle to the right to raise the platform and lock the bowl in place. You should hear a click.
How do I add mix-ins to my treat?
The MIX-IN program can be used to fold in slices and chunks of mix-ins. First, after processing your base using one of the other One-Touch Programs, use a spoon to create a 1 1/2-inch wide hole that reaches the bottom of the pint. Add mix-ins to the hole in the pint. After adding mix-ins, install the pint on the motor base with outer bowl, paddle, and outer bowl lid assembled, then run the MIX-IN program. Notes: - If adding mix-ins to store-bought ice cream, you do not have to process the ice cream on another program first. Just scoop the store-bought ice cream into the pint, make a hole, and add the mix-ins. Then process using the MIX-IN program. - If adding mix-ins to a milkshake, do not process the milkshake before adding mix-ins. Add the mix-ins and milk, then process using the MILKSHAKE program.
How do I disassemble the outer bowl and pint from the motor base?
1. Remove bowl: hold the release button on the left of the motor base and twist bowl handle clockwise to remove.
2. Remove lid: press the lid unlock button and twist counterclockwise to remove lid.
3. Remove pint: lift the pint out of the outer bowl.
4. Remove paddle: rinse the outer bowl lid to remove any sticky residue or pieces wedged in the paddle, then remove the paddle by pressing the paddle latch on top of the lid.
The outer bowl won't release from the motor base after processing.
Wait approximately 2 minutes, then try to remove the outer bowl again. Hold the release button on the left side of the motor base and twist bowl handle clockwise to remove. This may take some force.
To prevent the outer bowl from getting stuck on the motor base, make sure the cavity on top of the paddle is fully dry before processing. Also, when processing different bases consecutively, make sure to rinse and dry the paddle after processing each base. With some recipes, water may freeze between the paddle and motor base causing them to stick together; drying the paddle between runs will prevent this.
How do I install the Swirl pint into the dispense/swirl area of the unit?
Locate the large blue tab on the side of the pint. Note this tab is not on top of the lid, but on the side of the pint. Then, locate the blue painted area above the dispense area, but under pint release button. Match the blue tab on the pint to the blue paint in the dispense area. Push the pint in and twist clockwise until you hear a click.
What are the differences between each One-Touch Program?
Each One-Touch Program is intelligently designed to whip up delicious creations in 1–6 minutes. Programs vary in length and speed according to the optimal settings for creating perfectly creamy results with each kind of treat. There are two types of programs: Soft Serve and Scoop. The Scoop programs include ICE CREAM, LITE ICE CREAM, SORBET, GELATO, FROZEN YOGURT, and MILKSHAKE. These programs will create a harder and denser output. The Soft Serve programs include ICE CREAM, LITE ICE CREAM, FROZEN YOGURT, FROZEN CUSTARD, FRUIT WHIP and CREAMiFIT. These programs will create a lighter and softer output.
This means that the paddle spins at different speeds for different programs and that some programs take longer than others. For example, the ICE CREAM program is shorter with a lower paddle-spin speed than the FRUIT WHIP program. This is because ice cream contains both fat (from dairy) and sugar, while Italian ice contains more water and almost no fat, which makes it freeze with a "harder" texture.
In choosing the program for your own recipe, the most important point to consider is what ingredients are in your pint, not what texture is expected. When considering what program to run your own recipe on, compare it to the recipes in the inspiration guide or on NinjaCreami.com. Find a recipe that has similar ingredients and use the program prescribed for that recipe.
How do I stop an active program?
If you need to stop a program for any reason, simply press the power button. The paddle will immediately stop spinning, but there will still be some noise as the unit retracts the paddle back to its starting position. As the paddle retracts, the display will flash and the countdown timer will show a dash to indicate the program has been cancelled. Before removing the outer bowl from the motor base, wait until the display lights stop flashing, which indicates that the paddle and shaft have completely retracted. Please note that if you stop a program before it is completed, some or all of the base will be left unprocessed.
How long do programs run?
1 to 6 minutes, depending on the program. Reference the timer display on the unit for specific program times.
When should I use RE-SPIN?
If your base is crumbly or powdery after processing, use the RE-SPIN program to make it smoother and creamier. Note: do NOT RE-SPIN if you will also be using the MIX-IN program, since running both after another program may overprocess ingredients. Also, do NOT use RE-SPIN to process leftovers. RE-SPIN is often needed for very cold bases from the freezer; if your freezer is set to a very cold temperature, you may need RE-SPIN more frequently. The unit is designed to process bases between 9F and -7F. If your freezer is too cold, try changing the freezer's temperature setting, moving the pint to the front of your freezer, or leaving the pint out on the counter for a few minutes before processing. - Beside use with frozen bases, RE-SPIN can be used to customize the texture of your smoothie bowl or milkshake. Smoothie bowls made in the CREAMi are thicker than your average smoothie bowls. If you would like your smoothie bowl to be thinner, select RE-SPIN to process the mixture until your desired texture is achieved. Similarly, if you would like your milkshake thinner, add 1-2 tablespoons of milk and select RE-SPIN. Process until your desired texture is achieved. However, note that mix-ins may sink to the bottom of thin milkshakes.
Why do I always have to run RE-SPIN and/or run it more than once?
RE-SPIN is often needed for bases that are frozen in very cold freezers. You may need RE-SPIN more frequently if your freezer is set to a very cold temperature. The Ninja CREAMi One-Touch Programs are designed to process bases between 9F and -7F with little to no need for the RE-SPIN program. However, freezers vary greatly in temperature. They can even vary in temperatures depending on how full they are and/or what part of their cycle they are on. RE-SPIN was designed to allow you to achieve creamy texture even if your freezer is colder than -7F. - To keep from using RE-SPIN frequently, change the setting of your freezer, move the pint to the front of your freezer (where it tends to be warmer), or leave the pint out on the counter for a few minutes before processing. - Alternatively, the proportion of fat or sugar may be too low in your recipe. If you tend to make recipes low in fat and/or sugar or with sugar substitutes, you may be using RE-SPIN more often. Consult the inspiration guide and use the included recipes as a guide for best results. These recipes were designed with the right balance of fats, sugars, water, etc.
The lid is difficult to assemble onto the outer bowl.
'Twist to make sure that the CREAMi Swirl™ Pint is fully installed in the outer bowl and has dropped down into the grooves of the outer bowl (if adding a pint). Then, position the tab of the lid just slightly to the right of the outer bowl handle so the lines on the lid and handle align. Rotate the lid clockwise to lock.
The Creamerizer™ paddle is difficult to install onto the outer bowl lid.
Press and hold the latch on the top of the outer bowl lid, then insert the paddle in the bottom of the lid. Release the latch to secure the paddle. When fully installed, the latch will be centered and the paddle will be slightly loose.
The pint won't fit into the grooves of the outer bowl.
Make sure that you twist the Swirl pint within the outer bowl so that it sits into the grooves in the outer bowl and you are able to install the lid.
How do I install the dispense lid onto the Swirl pint?
Place the lid on top of the pint and press down while twisting clockwise for a quarter of a turn.
How do I remove the pint from the dispensing area?
First, ensure the Swirl Press has fully retracted. If you have dispensed your full pint, or it has been more than 5 minutes since you last dispensed, the Swirl Press will have automatically retracted to the home position. Otherwise, you will need to press the RETRACT button on the user interface, located next to the MIX-IN button in the left hand corner.
Once the Swirl press is in the home position, press the pint release button above the pint dispensing area. Turn the pint counter-clockwise, and pull the pint straight back to remove.
How do I open the white pint base, or know if it is open already?
With the pint installed into the dispensing area, hold the white base of the pint, and twist clockwise. The white pint base will be in the open position once the arrow on the side is aligned to the OPEN text and the ice cream graphic is fully vertical.
Why is my dispense lid hard to remove/How do I remove the dispense lid from the pint?
Sometimes the dipsense lid may be difficult to remove from the pint. This is due to the strong seal from the Swirl Press interfering with the side of the pint, making the lid difficult to remove.
To remove the dispense lid from your pint, place your hand on the lid so your thumb is aligned to the white ridge next to the blue release area and below the unlock symbol. Twist the lid counter-clockwise, putting pressure on the white ridge.
Note: the blue release latch on the dispense lid will only release the Swirl Press from the dispense lid and will not help in removing the dispense lid from the pint.
How do I remove/install the Swirl Press from the dispense lid?
To remove: pull back the blue latch from the LOCKED icon to the UNLOCKED icon. Then pull out the Swirl Press from the bottom of the dispense lid.
To install: pull back the blue latch from the uninstalled icon to the UNLOCK icon. While holding the latch at the UNLOCK icon, flip the lid over and install the Swirl Press into the hole. Note you may need to turn the Swirl Press slightly to fit into the hole. Once the Swirl Press is in place, let go to the latch. When the Swirl Press is fully installed, the blue latch will sit under the LOCK icon.
How do I begin to dispense/swirl my pint?
After processing, install the dispensing lid and install the pint into the dispensing area on the left side of the unit, aligning the blue tab on the pint with the blue paint on the dispensing area, turning until you hear a click. Open the white pint base, then pull the handle to begin dispensing.
You do not need to press any additional buttons to begin to dispense.
Once you pull the handle, there will be a delay of at least 10 seconds before your frozen treat starts to dispense, depending on how full your pint is.
Do I need to process my pint prior to dispensing?
Yes - you will always need to process your pint prior to dispensing. For a frozen base, select SOFT SERVE as your processing mode, then select the most appropriate program based on what you made for your frozen treat.
If you want to dispense store bought ice cream, scoop the ice cream into your pint and process the pint using the RE-SPIN function.
How do I remove/install the Swirl Press gasket?
To remove: pull on the blue rubber gasket, manuevering it until it is fully removed.
To install, stretch the gasket over the edge of the Swirl Press with the 4 tabs facing upward. Work the gasket to fit so the 4 tabs align with the 4 notches.
How do I remove/install the drip tray?
To install: push the drip tray straight into the hole on the bottom left side of the base, under the dispensing area.
To remove: pull the drip tray straight all the way back. You will feel some resistance which is normal. Continue pulling until the drip tray isfully removed.
How do I process a pint?
Install the frozen pint into the outer bowl and install the outer bowl lid, including the paddle. Slide the outer bowl into the unit, with the handle centered on the unit and twist up until you hear a click. Select your processing mode, Soft Serve or Scoop, based on what you prepared for your frozen treat. Then select your program that best suits your base.
How do I remove the nozzle from the pint?

Can I dispense milkshake or frozen beverages in the swirl side?
No - it is not recommended to dispense frozen beverages from the swirl side of the unit.
Do I still need to freeze my base for 24 hours before processing if I want to swirl?
If you don't want to wait 24 hours, you can make soft serve using store bought ice cream! Simply fill the pint with 2 cups of store bought ice cream, then process the pint using the RE-SPIN function.
Can I use mix ins if I'm using the swirl side/dispense side?
If you are going to dispense your output, you should not add mix ins prior to dispensing. If you want a soft serve base with mix-ins, you can always add mix-ins after processing and enjoy your treat directly from the pint or scooped into a bowl.
Can I use the processing side and the swirl side at the same time?
No - you can only process or dispense one at a time. Note: if the outer bowl is in the installed position on the processing side at the same time a pint is installed on the dispensing/swirl side, the processing function will always be given preference to run over dispensing.

Product Usage
How do I best freeze my prepped base in the pint?
1. If adjustable, make sure your freezer's temperature is set properly. The unit is designed to process bases that are between 9°F and -7°F. If your freezer is within this range, your Swirl Pint should reach the appropriate temperature.
2. Upright freezers work best. We do not recommend using a chest freezer, as they tend to reach extremely cold temperatures.
3. Make sure that the storage lid is on the pint and that the Swirl Pint is on a level surface in the freezer. To avoid damaging your unit, DO NOT process a Swirl Pint if ingredients have been frozen at an angle or if the pint has been scooped out of and then refrozen unevenly. *If a Swirl Pint is frozen unevenly, melt, whisk, and then re-freeze the ingredients on a level surface in the freezer for 24 hours.
4. Freeze for at least 24 hours. Although the CREAMi Swirl Pint may hit freezing temperatures before 24 hours is up, it will need to get even colder before it is ready for processing.
Do I have to freeze for 24 hours? What happens if I freeze for less time?
'- We recommend freezing for at least 24 hours to give your pint time to reach the optimal temperature range for processing. Although the CREAMi Swirl Pint may hit freezing temperatures before 24 hours is up, it will need to get even colder before it is ready for processing. (The unit is designed to process bases that are between 9°F and -7°F.) If you freeze your base for less than 24 hours, it may not reach a cold enough temperature for processing, and your output will likely be soft and liquidy.
Don't want to wait 24 hours? Simply fill your pint with two cups of store bought ice cream, frozen yogurt, or sorbet, and mix on the RE-SPIN function. Then dispense the ice cream into a chilled bowl or cone for soft serve in just minutes!
What is the best-by date of my treat? How long can I keep it in the freezer?
We recommend freezing, processing, and consuming your treat within 2 weeks of prepping your base. While the base or processed treat will not necessarily be spoiled after two weeks, the flavor and texture will decrease over time in the freezer.
You do not have to process your base exactly 24 hours after prepping and freezing it.
Why don't my leftovers taste as good?
Like most food, CREAMi™ treats taste their best when freshly made, i.e. immediately after processing. After time in the freezer, the treat may have freezer burn and lack flavor. We recommend finishing leftovers within 2 weeks of prepping the base for maximum flavor and best texture.
How much of my mix-in(s) should I add?
We recommmend adding 1/4 cup of your favorite crushed candies, frozen fruits, chopped nuts, chocolate pieces, and more. When adding several different types of mix-ins, we recommend not exceeding 1/4 cup in total.
Feel free to adjust the quantity of mix-ins to your taste. If you would like fewer chunks, add less than 1/4 cup. If you would like more chunks, mix-in more than 1/4 cup. When adding more than 1/4 cup, be sure that the outer bowl lid can still comfortably close over the pint to process using the MIX-IN program. It also helps to dig a deeper and wider hole when adding more than 1/4 cup of mix-ins.
It's also easy to add mix-ins to half of the Swirl Pint without mixing them into the other half. After you process your half-pint TOP, use a spoon to create a 1 and 1/2 inch wide hole that reaches halfway down the Swirl Pint. Add your mix-ins to the hole and select TOP and MIX-IN. To add mix-ins to the remainder of the Swirl Pint, follow these same instructions for BOTTOM.
What should I use or not use as mix-ins? How should I prep mix-ins?
What to use: chocolate, nuts, candy, frozen fruit, and more to elevate any treat with bursts of flavor. - What not to use: fresh fruit, sauces, and spreads. Adding fresh fruit, fudge, and caramel sauces will water down your treat. Chocolate hazelnut spread and nut butters also do not mix well. In place of these items, we recommend using frozen fruit or chocolate/caramel shell toppings. - How to prep: Hard mix-ins-like chocolate, candy, and nuts- will remain intact and not get broken down during the MIX-IN program, so we recommend using smaller pieces of hard mix-ins, such as mini chocolate chips and candies or pre-chopped nuts. Soft mix-ins-like cereal, cookies, and frozen fruit-will get broken down and shrink during the MIX-IN program, so we recommend using larger pieces of soft mix-ins. Adjust the size of mix-ins to your taste using these guidelines.
Is there a minimum fill line for ingredients added to the Swirl Pint before processing?
There is no minimum fill line. We recommend filling the pint at least half way to the MAX FILL line to achieve the best output texture. Filling below this level will not harm the machine, but adding a very small amount of ingredients to the pint may result in an output with sub-optimal texture.
Can I make a smoothie in the Ninja Creami?
- No. Do NOT make a smoothie or process hard, loose ingredients, such as frozen fruit. Fruit must be crushed to release its juice or combined with other ingredients and frozen before processing. The Fresh Fruit Sorbet recipe in the inspiration guide provides an example of how to make a treat from fruit that is crushed to release its juice and frozen before processing.
- Additionally, do NOT process a solid block of ice or ice cubes.
What can I make if I don't have 24 hours?
You can make a milkshake or customize store-bought ice cream with mix-ins in minutes. To make a milkshake: add 1 1/2 cups of store-bought ice cream to a pint. With a spoon, create a 1 1/2-inch wide hole that reaches the bottom of the pint. Add mix-ins to the hole in the pint (optional), then add 1/2 cup of milk. Process using the MILKSHAKE program. To customize store-bought ice cream: scoop 1 1/2 cups of store-bought ice cream into a pint. With a spoon, create a 1 1/2-inch wide hole that reaches the bottom of the pint. Add your mix-ins to the hole in the pint. Process using the MIX-IN program.
How large is the Swirl Pint?
The Maximum fill line is 16oz.
Why did my display shut-off?
The unit display will power off after 600 seconds of inactivity. To wake it back up, press the power button.
Are the Swirl Pints BPA free?
Yes, the Swirl Pints are BPA free.
Where can I purchase additional Swirl Pints?
On NinjaKitchen.com.
Is the Swirl Pint microwave safe?

Why are there only 9 program buttons on the user interface when the box says 13-in-1 programs?
'Some of the programs will illuminate twice when selecting Soft Serve or Scoop. When a program illuminates under Soft Serve, the program will run faster and longer to create a softer output compared to a program that illuminates under Scoop that will run slower and shorter to create a harder output.

Can I use the same Creami pints or other Creami parts in the NC700 that I use in the NC200, NC300 or NC500?
No - only NC700 series pints should be used in the NC700. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE ANY OTHER PINTS IN THE NC700.
Can I remove the white pint base from my pint?
No - the white pint base that twists open for dispensing is not removable. If food is trapped between the pint and the base, it is recommended to soak the pint base in warm water to help dislodge any food.
When dishwashing, always make sure the pint base is in the OPEN position for best cleaning results.
What are the serving sizes for the Ninja Creami Swirl?
When dispensing, the pint will make about 4 small cones (4 oz of ice cream per cone). When scooping your recipe into a bowl, the pint holds 4 servings of ice cream.
Is the "Swirl" side detachable? Can it be purchased as an accessory?
The Creami Swirl is an 13-in-1 soft serve ice cream machine. The "swirl" side comes attached to the unit, and cannot be purchased separately. This is because the Creami Swirl uses special technology to prepare your frozen treat using the SOFT SERVE function to make it ready for dispensing that our other models do not have.

Recipe Questions
Can I use other recipes (not from Ninja Test Kitchen)?
Yes, other frozen treat recipes can be made in the Ninja™ CREAMi™ Swirl. However, the Ninja Test Kitchen carefully crafted our recipes with the right balance of water/liquid, fat, protein, and sugar for our machine. We believe our recipes will work best in our machine while recipes from other sources will have varying success.
Can I use food dye in the base?
Yes, several of our recipes call for food coloring to spice things up!
The recipes are too difficult to prep.
Have you tried the no-prep inspiration chart found in the recipe book? These recipes use common fridge and pantry ingredients to make treats without any prep. You simply pour the ingredients into the pint and freeze! If you've tried the no-prep inspiration chart and the other easy recipes in the recipe book, visit NinjaCreami.com for tons of additional recipes. Look for the recipes labeled "easy." These will only take about 5 minutes to prep.
How do I make recipes dairy-free? What substitutions can I use?
For Ninja Test Kitchen recipes, you can substitute unsweetened oat milk for milk (1:1), unsweetened coconut cream for heavy cream (1:1), and vegan cream cheese for cream cheese (1:1). Make sure to use unsweetened substitutes and to whisk any coconut cream by itself before using it as a substitute. - We do not recommend other dairy substitutions unless specifically called out in the recipe. - We cannot recommend substitutions for non-Ninja Test Kitchen recipes. - Please note that making dairy substitutions will change the texture of your treat.
How do I make recipes use less sugar? What substitutions can I use?
For Ninja Test Kitchen recipes, you can substitute raw agave nectar For light corn syrup. - We do not recommend other sugar substitutions unless specifically called out in the recipe. - When using ANY sugar substitutes for any recipe, use the LITE ICE CREAM program to process. - We cannot recommend substitutions for non-Ninja Test Kitchen recipes.
Where do I find more recipes?
Ninjacreami.com. Look for new recipe drops every week!
The recipe tastes too sweet (before freezing).
Worried your base mixture might be too sweet? Don't worry, it won't taste as sweet after you freeze and process it into a frozen treat. The colder something is, the less sweet it tastes!
How do I make an ice bath?
To prepare an ice bath, "ll a large bowl with ice and water. Then place your pint in the ice water. Once your base has cooled below 40F, place the pint in the freezer. (Some recipes require ingredients to be cooked before freezing the base. To keep from warming up your freezer, we recommend using an ice bath to quickly cool the base.)
How do I double a recipe?
Simply add twice the amount of every ingredient in the recipe. There are no surprises-it's that easy! We recommend pouring the doubled ingredients into two pints for freezing and then customizing each with mix-ins to make prep that much easier.
What recipe should I start with?
We recommend starting with the Perfectly Personalized Ice Cream recipe found in the quick start guide. This is an easy recipe to show you how to customize both with flavorings and mix-ins to get exactly the treat you want! You can also make this recipe dairy-free. Watch a video on how to make this recipe under the "How It Works" section on NinjaCreami.com
What if I process my base on a different program than the recipe prescribes?
Processing a base on a different program than the recipe prescribes may result in an inferior output. Each One-Touch Program has the optimal settings to get perfectly creamy results for that type of recipe. - Selecting a different program will not transform your recipe into a different output. For example, selecting the smoothie bowl function will not transform an ice cream recipe into a smoothie bowl output. Instead, it will likely result in a less than ideal output.
My milkshake is too thick/thin.
I would like milkshake thinner: - If you would like your milkshake thinner, add 1-2 tablespoons of milk and select RE-SPIN. Process until desired texture is achieved. Note: mix-ins may sink to the bottom of thin milkshakes.
I would like a thicker milkshake: - For thickest results, process your ice cream right from the freezer. - You can also use less milk/liquid for a thicker milkshake.
The Swirl pint froze at an angle in the freezer.
'If the pint is frozen unevenly, put the pint in the fridge to allow the ingredients to melt. Then whisk to make sure the ingredients are combined. Refreeze, making sure to place the pint on a level surface in your freezer.
To avoid damaging the unit, DO NOT process a pint that has been frozen at an angle. DO NOT process if the pint has been scooped out of and then refrozen unevenly.
Always smooth-out the surface of your ice cream before re-freezing.
What should I do with leftovers in my Swirl Pint?
Leftovers can be stored in tupperware containers, but we recommend storing leftovers in a CREAMi™ pint so they can be processed again later. Some leftovers re-freeze very hard and need to be processed again to enjoy, which will not be possible if they were stored in a container other than the pint.
Flatten the top of your frozen treat with a spoon or spatula before refreezing. If the treat is soft after re-freezing, you do not need to process again—just scoop and enjoy it. If it is hard, process it again on the program you used to make it. Note: if your treat contains mix-ins, processing again will likely pulverize the mix-ins and create a new flavor.
DO NOT use the RE-SPIN program for any leftovers.
If you dispensed your frozen treat, make sure to close the pint base, remove the nozzle, and clean out any ice cream that may remain in the nozzle chamber by rinsing the area with water. This must be done prior to refreezing, otherwise you will not be able to dispense from the pint after re-processing. Then, reinstall the nozzle and flatten the top of the ice cream with a spoon or spatula before refreezing for 24 hours. Process on the same program you used to make your ice cream.
What should I use or not use as mix-ins? How should I prep mix-ins?
- What to use: chocolate, nuts, candy, frozen fruit, and more to elevate any treat with bursts of flavor.
How to prep:
Hard mix-ins—like chocolate, candy, and nuts— will remain intact and not get broken down during the MIX-IN program, so we recommend using smaller pieces of hard mix-ins, such as mini chocolate chips and candies or pre-chopped nuts.
Soft mix-ins—like cereal, cookies, and frozen fruit—will get broken down and shrink during the MIX-IN program, so we recommend using larger pieces of soft mix-ins.
Adjust the size of mix-ins to your taste using these guidelines.
Is there a minimum fill line for ingredients added to the Swirl Pint before processing?
'The minimum fill line should be halfway. Filling less than halfway leads to a powdery/crumbly output on the first spin leading to multiple re-spins to achieve a scoopable texture. This is due to the extra head room in the pint allowing the output to crawl up the sides and not get mixed correctly. If this occurs, you should pack down the pint and RESPIN to get a more consistent output.
What type of yogurt should I use that will produce the best desired outcome?
When making frozen yogurt, ensure you are using full-fat yogurts with added sugar. Non-fat yogurts or yogurts with no added sugar should not be processed in the unit.
Can I freeze my treat in a plastic bag inside the pint?
Ninja CREAMi pints should only contain your prepared or store-bought base or leftover output; processing a CREAMi pint with a plastic bag or liner frozen into it can damage the machine.
Can I use a carbonated beverage in my frozen treat?
'You CANNOT freeze any carbonated beverages as they will expand during freezing.
Can I use the same recipes in my NC701 swirl that I use in my NC501?
If you are looking for more recipes, it is recommended to use recipes compatible with the NC301 rather than the NC501 as the NC501 has a larger capacity pint.
Can I swirl/dispense recipes that I used in my N200/NC300/NC500?
Given most recipes compatible with the NC200/NC300/NC500 are SCOOP recipes, it is not recommended to dispense as the recipes may be too dense for dispensing. It is not recommended to process these recipes under SOFT SERVE as they might become too melty for dispensing as well.
Is there a "hack" to make recipes that I used in my NC300 and NC500 series?
If using the soft serve function, for best results it is recommended to follow recipes provided in the inspiration guide or on NinjaTestKitchen.com labeled under Soft Serve.
If you still want to enjoy your NC300 recipes on your NC700, it is recommended you run them using one of the SCOOP programs to avoid melty outputs.
Is there an alternative to xanthan gum?
Yes! If you don’t have xanthan gum, you can simply swap it with 1 tbs of any instant pudding mix of your choice. If you don't have xanthan gum or pudding mix, simply omit them from the recipe.
What protein shakes or protein alternatives are recommended for best results?
Ultra-filtered protein shakes are recommended for best use when using the CREAMiFIT function, but any protein shake is a suitable replacement. If you don't have any pre-made protein shakes, you can always use 1 3/4 cups low-fat milk or almond milk + 1 scoop/serving protein powder of choice

Why is my frozen treat liquid, not solid, after processing
If a base is soft after processing, put the CREAMi® Swirl Pint back in the freezer for several hours or until desired consistency is reached.
For best results, freeze base for at least 24 hours and process immediately after removing from the freezer. If the processed base is still not firm, try setting your freezer to a colder temperature. The unit is designed to process bases between 9°F and -7°F.
The proportion of fat or sugar may be too high in your recipe. Consult the Inspiration Guide and use the included recipes as a guide for best results.
The output was dispensed into a room temperature bowl. Always dispense into a chilled bowl for best results.
Why does my frozen treat looks crumbly or powdery after processing?
When bases are frozen in very cold freezers, they may come out crumbly. After running a One-Touch Program, use the RE-SPIN program to make your frozen treat smoother and creamier. DO NOT RE-SPIN if using the MIX-IN program. Instead, proceed with the mix-in process. Your treat should be creamier after using the MIX-IN program.
The proportion of fat or sugar may be too low in your recipe. Consult the inspiration guide and use the included recipes as a guide for best results.
Why won't the One-Touch Programs illuminate?
Ensure the unit is plugged into a working outlet before installing the outer bowl. Then press the power button to select a program.
Make sure the unit is fully assembled for use. If the unit is powered on and the outer bowl is not installed correctly, or if the paddle is not installed correctly, the install light will flash. The Soft Serve and Scoop Processing Mode animation will illuminate when the unit is fully assembled. You must select one of the Processing Mode options before the program selections illuminate. Keep in mind when selecting Soft Serve or Scoop, some programs may illuminate twice. Each program that illuminates twice has an additional program setting, so be sure to select the correct program for your base.
The unit does not allow you to run programs back to back. Between programs, lower the bowl and check the results before raising the bowl and running another program.
Install light is flashing
The outer bowl is not installed or is not installed correctly. Re-install the paddle into the outer bowl lid and the lid onto the outer bowl, then re-install the outer bowl onto the motor base until it clicks into place.
Or, the outer bowl is installed, but the paddle is missing or has been incorrectly installed.
Lower the platform by pressing and holding the bowl release button on the left of the motor base while twisting the outer bowl handle toward the center. Be sure the paddle is installed in the lid.
Or, when dispensing, if the install light is blinking, ensure the dispense lid has been installed on the pint.
Display shows E1 or E2 and programs are flashing
The motor has overloaded and needs to be reset. Unplug the unit, remove the bowl, and allow the motor base to cool for approximately 15 minutes before running again.
Remove the outer bowl lid and paddle. Ensure no ingredients are jamming the lid assembly.
The ingredients you are trying to process might be too dense. Make sure you are using ingredients with sugar or fat. Follow the recipes in the inspiration guide for best results.
Your freezer might be very cold. The unit is designed to process bases between 9°F and -7°F. Change the setting of your freezer, move the Swirl Pint to the front of your freezer, or leave the Swirl Pint out on the counter for a few minutes before processing.
DO NOT process a solid block of ice, ice cubes, or hard, loose ingredients.
Display shows E3 and programs are flashing
There was an error and the program did not successfully complete. Unplug the unit, remove the bowl, and confirm that the paddle is installed properly. Plug the unit back in and try running the program again.
what does E4 mean?
There was an error and the program did not successfully complete. Unplug the unit, remove the bowl, and confirm that the paddle is installed properly. Plug the unit back in and try running the program again.
What does E mean?
If you receive an E error message with no additional numbers, that means there was an error dispensing output due to too high of a force on the unit. First, check if your white pint base is in the CLOSED position. If it is CLOSED, twist the white pint base clockwise until the arrow is in the OPEN position. Remove the pint from the dispense area and reinstall to begin dispensing again.
If the pint base is open, check to see if the nozzle is clogged. If yes, it is recommended you remove the pint from the dispense area and enjoy the rest of the frozen treat from the pint or scooped into a bowl. To unclog the pint, it is recommended to use a small brush and water to gently remove any clogs from the nozzle cavity.
If there is no clog, your treat may be too hard to dispense. To soften, remove the pint from the dispense area and process it again on RE-SPIN to soften the output further. Then, try to dispense the frozen treat again. If you continue to receive the E error message, it is recommended you enjoy your frozen treat from the pint or scooped into a bowl.

Swirl pint froze at an angle in the freezer
For best results, do not process a Swirl Pint that has been frozen at an angle or scooped out
of and then refrozen unevenly. Always smooth-out the surface of your ice cream before re-freezing. If the Swirl Pint is frozen unevenly, put the Swirl Pint in the fridge to allow the ingredients to melt. Then whisk to make sure the ingredients are combined. Refreeze, making sure to place the Swirl Pint on a level surface in
your freezer.

Why is it difficult to dispense my pint after it's been re-frozen and processed again?
If you previously dispensed your pint, it is possible there is unprocessed frozen treat stuck in the nozzle chamber that was not cleaned out prior to re-freezing. In this case, it is recommended to enjoy your frozen treat either from the pint or scooped into a bowl.
Prior to re-freezing, if you dispensed your frozen treat, make sure to close the pint base, remove the nozzle, and clean out any ice cream that may remain in the nozzle chamber by rinsing the area with water. This must be done prior to refreezing, otherwise you will not be able to dispense from the pint after re-processing. Then, reinstall the nozzle and flatten the top of the ice cream with a spoon or spatula before refreezing for 24 hours. Process on the same program you used to make your ice cream.
Why am I getting ice chunks in my dispense/swirl output?
When processing, there is a small gap between the pint and the paddle to prevent inference between one another that causes there to be a gap of unprocessed ice cream, creating an ice wall. When dispensing, the Swirl Press pushes out all contents of the pint, including the ice wall that can cause there to be some ice chunks in your output. To prevent this, you can run your pint under warm water for a few minutes to soften the ice wall resulting in a better processed output.
Why is there still some leftover ice cream/ice in my pint after dispensing?
When processing, there is a small gap between the pint and the paddle to prevent interfence between one another that causes there to be a gap of unprocessed ice cream, creating an ice wall. If the ice wall is too dense, it may not be dispensing into a cone and end up on the bottom of the pint when dispensing. The resulting left over ice cream seen is that ice wall compressed at the base. It is not recommended to RE-SPIN the waste from the ice wall.
Why is my pint leaking?
If it is leaking before freezing, ensure the arrow on the white pint base is in the fully CLOSED position.
If the pint is leaking while dispensing, this is normal and can occur when you have a very soft base.
Why is there a delay between pulling the dispense handle, and seeing the ice cream dispense?
Depending on how full your pint is after processing, you may experience a delay when pulling the dispense handle and when your frozen treat begins to dispense. This is due to the the gap between the Swirl Press and your frozen treat. When you pull the handle, the Swirl Press will begin to travel towards your frozen treat. Once it makes contact with your treat, it will begin to dispense, usually within about 10 seconds.
If you have previously dispensed your pint and reprocessed, it may take longer for your frozen treat to dispense.
Unit moves on counter while processing
Ensure the countertop and the feet of the unit are clean and dry. Make sure unit is on a flat, stable surface.
