It is also important that the unit be the only appliance plugged into an outlet when in use. To avoid tripping a breaker, make sure the unit is the only appliance plugged into an outlet on a 15-amp breaker.

Cleaning

Is this oven dishwasher safe?

No, the unit base, Bake Pan, Pizza Stone are NOT dishwasher safe. Be sure to clean all accessories and the main unit after each use. THE PIZZA STONE MUST NOT GET WET.

How should I clean the unit and accessories?

General Oven Cleaning

  1. The oven should be cleaned thoroughly after each use. ALWAYS let the appliance and accessories cool before cleaning.
  2. Unplug the oven from power source before cleaning. Keep the door open after removing food to allow the oven to cool quicker.
  3. Use soap and water with a nylon brush to clean the interior of the oven and the inside of the glass door. DO NOT use abrasive or chemical cleaners, as they will damage the oven.
  4. After every use, wipe away any food splatter on the interior walls and glass door of the unit with a soft, damp sponge.

Glass Door

Wait until the oven is completely cool before cleaning the glass door. You can remove grease using dry paper towels or a dry cloth. For more thorough cleaning, use warm, soapy water, but make sure the oven is completely dry before turning it on again.

Pizza Stone

Allow the pizza stone to cool completely before cleaning. The pizza stone can crack or break if it comes in contact with cold water while it’s hot.

  1. Scrape lightly. DO NOT use a metal spatula or knife, as these can scratch the pizza stone.
  2. Wipe any remaining debris off the stone using a soft cloth.
  3. DO NOT wash the pizza stone. Water can stay in the stone for a long time if it gets wet, allow it to dry completely before using again.
  4. Expect your pizza stone to become discolored over time - a seasoned stone is a good thing (like a cast-iron pan).

Bake Pan

  1. Allow the bake pan to cool. DO NOT put the bake pan in the dishwasher.
  2. Use dish soap, warm water, and the rough side of a sponge to remove any remaining  discoloration. DO NOT use steel wool or other abrasive scrubbers as this may scratch the cookware.
  3. Rinse the pan and dry it with a dish towel.
How do I clean the glass window?

Wait until the oven is completely cool before cleaning the glass door. You can remove grease using dry paper towels or a dry cloth. For more thorough cleaning, use warm, soapy water, but ensure the oven is completely dry before turning it on again.

Cooking

Why is preheating taking so long?

Preheat times vary by function and set temperature:

BAKE, PIZZA: add numbers from table on the right

WARM, PROOF, BROIL: No preheat.

Using the unit in inclement weather with heavy rain could cause longer preheat times. We recommend using only extension cords marked with letters "SJOW" and stating, "suitable for use with outdoor appliances." Longer cord length may also cause longer preheat times, we recommend using the shortest outdoor-rated extension cord that fits your outdoor oven setup.

While preheating is strongly recommended for best results, you can skip it by pressing and holding the START/STOP button for 4 seconds. "ADD FOOD" will flash across the screen when preheat is complete. Once food is added to the unit, press the START/STOP button to begin the cooking timer.

Why does the preheat progress bar not start from the beginning?

When the unit is warm from previously being used, it will not require the full preheating time.

Can I cancel or override preheating?

Preheating is highly recommended for best results, but you can skip it by pressing and holding the right hand side dial for 4 seconds.

Should I add my ingredients before or after preheating?

For best results, let the unit preheat before adding ingredients.

Why did my food burn?

Do not add food until the recommended preheat time is complete. For best results, check progress throughout cooking, and remove food when the desired level of brownness has been achieved. Remove food immediately after the cook time is complete to avoid overcooking.

For pizza, here are some recommendations to avoid burning:

Reduce the temperature if the dough is thicker than the charts in collateral recommend per pizza type. Thin out your dough for the next cook. Use fewer toppings. Avoid using toppings with too much moisture. Reduce the amount of sugar, oil, or other additives in your dough.  Use the Ninja Pizza Peel to allow excess flour to fall away. Clean the pizza stone.

Can I batch cook with this unit?

If batch cooking meats, for best results, we recommend washing the pan thoroughly in between batches, especially  when cooking with high heat, high-fat- content foods, or excess oil.

If cooking pizza, for best results wait until ADD FOOD reappears and the Ready light appears on the display to indicate your stone is at the proper temperature. For best results, we recommend recharging your stone after 3 pizzas.

Which surfaces can I place the unit on while in use?

Place the oven on a stable and level surface. It is important that the surface can support the weight and size of the unit. The underside stays cool, so you can place the unit on any surface. Position the unit at least 3 feet from walls or anything overhead due to heat output.

Why does my light keep turning off?

If the light button is pressed, the interior light will only remain on for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, you may press the light again to turn it on for another 10 minutes. Note, the light will automatically turn on when there are 30 seconds remaining in your cook.

Why did the light randomly turn on?

The light will turn on automatically when there are 30 seconds remaining in a cook. It will also turn on for 10 minutes if you press the light button on the UI.

Can I use my own bake pan?

Yes. Place your bake pan (or deep-dish pizza pan if you’re using the preset Pizza “Pan” setting) on the pizza stone inside the oven. DO NOT place any accessories not intended for the Outdoor Pizza & High-Heat Oven directly on the heating elements.

How do I avoid a fire in my oven while batch cooking at high temperatures?

Remember to empty the fat/oil from the bake pan to help prevent spillover. Ensure bake pan is washed thoroughly before each use. This will prevent grease from burning and causing smoke.

Can I use oils to cook in my oven at high temperatures?

When cooking at 500°F, be sure to use fats or oils with high smoke points. For the best results, follow the recommended options listed in the Ninja recipes.

How do I avoid flare-ups when I open the oven?

When cooking at high temperatures, specifically when roasting foods, open the door slowly and at an arm’s length. Remember to empty the fat/oil from the bake pan to help prevent spillover. This will help prevent smoke and flare-ups.

"Add Food" appears on the control panel display.

The unit has completed preheating and it is now time to add your ingredients.

Be sure to hit Start once you have inserted the food to keep the oven at the proper temperature.

Press the START button to start the cooking timer.

Refer to page 5 in the Owner's Guide for more information on when to place the stone & bake pan in the unit during the cook.

General Questions

Can I use an extension cord?

Yes, connect to a properly grounded 3-prong GFCI outlet only and only use the correct recommended cord.
